China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and National Energy Administration (NEA) issued the Special Action Plan for Large-Scale Construction of New Energy Storage (2025-2027) last Friday (12th), focusing on 3 major core directions, naming large-scale development, technological leadership and a sound system, and setting the overall goal for the development of new energy storage by 2027.

Meanwhile, by 2027, China's installed capacity of new energy storage will reach over 180 million kW, driving direct project investment of approx. RMB250 billion. The technological route for new energy storage will still primarily focus on lithium-ion battery energy storage, with various technological routes and application scenarios being further enriched, cultivating pilot application projects and creating typical application scenarios.
